About

Kate Barber - Bloom Counselling

Hello and welcome

As a Registered Counsellor, I bring experience and a personal, empathic approach to counselling to help you navigate the various challenges that life, inevitably, throws at us. I’ll help you work through these challenges within a safe and non-judgemental space, to make sense of what is going on for you and work with you to find strategies to move forward.

In my previous role as a Registered Nurse and now, as a counsellor, I have been informally counselling and caring for people who are at their most vulnerable for over 30 years. With a focus on counselling those impacted by cancer and life limiting illnesses, I have gained an understanding of the complexities of the varied emotional, physical and mental challenges many are faced with when confronted by unexpected illness.

I use an Integrated Counselling approach – this means using a variety of techniques that are person-centred and individualised to you. These may include, but are not limited to, Mindfulness, Trauma informed therapy, Somatic therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour based approaches. I’ll work with you to help you identify your concerns, to find your inner resources and to support you in your decision making.

If I sound like I might be a good fit for you , please give me a call or head to my contact page.
