What I Offer

  • The diagnosis of a life-limiting illness or cancer can change your life in an instant and can turn your world upside down. It can be a scary, confusing and confronting time with so much to navigate – doctors’ appointments, medical jargon, the hospital system, waiting for results, scans, decision making, financial and practical concerns. Emotions such as shock, disbelief, anger, sadness, and anxiety are common. Every aspect of your life is impacted - relationships, family dynamics, sexuality, body image, work and finances just to name a few. Associated feelings of loss and grief can make seeing a way forward difficult.

And what happens when your treatment is finished? The security of regular check ins with your Nurses and Doctors is no longer there, no more days filled up with appointments, scans or blood tests. You might hear ‘you look great’, but often you may not feel great - a lot has changed for you and sometimes others do not understand this. Ending your treatment, fear of recurrence and survivorship can leave you feeling vulnerable, lonely and sometimes a little bit lost.

It is like a ripple effect and can have a huge, and often a quite different impact on partners, carers, family and significant others who are unsure about how they can help those they love whilst dealing with their own varied emotions.

I offer counselling support for anyone who is impacted illness.

  • Loss and grief comes to us in many different forms.

It could be a death of a loved one, relationship loss, loss of a pet, loss of job, loss of physical capabilities or loss of cognitive capacity.  Whatever the reason, grief and loss effects everyone differently and can have a profound impact on our day to day lives, our relationships and how we see the world around us. It can be sometimes very difficult to see what life will look like moving forward.

Understanding loss and grief and the impact it can have on your life and of those around you, can help you move forward whilst still acknowledging and finding a space for what was.

  • Life can be hard work, it can be fun and amazing and then, it can be hard work again.

Every day there are a myriad of different situations and life events thrown our way - relationships, work, financial pressures, social expectations or even just the day to day job of trying to keep all our balls in the air.

Sometimes, the pressure of the lives we lead and the associated stress, may trigger anxiety, tension, communication breakdown, conflict, self-esteem issues and confusion, leaving you feeling frustrated and unsure. I will work with you to help you untangle your concerns, recognise your own strengths and navigate moving forward.

  • Relationships can be tricky!

There can be many varied reasons why our relationships with those we love become confusing and strained. Financial stress, infidelity, family dynamics, work, parenting, retirement, kids moving out or the simple reason that we and our relationships change over time.

When difficulties arise within a relationship it can lead to stress, conflict, confusion, loneliness, frustration and feelings of helplessness. Dissatisfaction, sexuality concerns and poor communication can result.

Having individual counselling to discuss how you are feeling about your relationship can help with understanding these difficulties and finding a path forward.

  • Workplace stress can be a big issue for both employers and employees. Job satisfaction, staff retention and shortages, working from home, staff wellbeing and productively can all be adversely affected by workplace stress and, in turn, change the culture and feel of a workplace.

Facilitating time for staff to debrief, share their worries and concerns and release some of that built up stress with an external person can make a huge impact on workplace happiness, job satisfaction and subsequently general health and well-being.

I provide debriefing for individuals or groups, where staff can share and talk about their experiences in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space. I can help staff recognise signs of physical, mental and emotional responses to their work stressors and to help them put in place strategies for self care.
